Optimization of the Injectors Position for an Electric Arc Furnace by using CFD Simulation

In this study, complex processes in a typical Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) such as combustion, radiation, heat, and mass transfer were solved the optimum injector location was found using computational fluid dynamics (CFD). The main aim of injection optimization to improve thermal performance metallurgical process by changing angle, central angle (CAI), length. Fifteen parametric cases predicted analyzed for study. To decrease each simulation solution time cases, polyhedral mesh structure used instead tetrahedral EAF geometry. Thus, total element number model decreased 1/5 while providing faster unchanging results compared case with structure. response surface method As result, positioning obtained angle: -45°, length 614 mm, CAI: 60°.
